Custom Timber Furniture in Noosa, Sunshine Coast & Brisbane
Timber & Tide designs and handcrafts high-quality custom timber furniture for residential and commercial projects across Noosa, the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane.
From a single statement piece to a complete home or office fitout, every project is made to order around your space, style and requirements. We work with solid hardwood timber to create furniture with lasting quality, natural character and a finish that feels considered from every angle.
Whether you know exactly what you want or need help developing an idea, our team can guide your project from the initial concept through to design, manufacture, delivery and installation.
Custom Furniture Made for Your Space
Custom furniture gives you the freedom to create a piece that works specifically for your interior rather than adapting your space around something mass-produced.
We create custom dining tables, entertainment units, buffets, consoles, beds, bedside tables, tallboys, desks, boardroom tables, meeting tables, high bars, coffee tables, benchtops, wall units, display cases and more.
Our projects range from individual pieces for private homes through to furniture packages for offices, boardrooms, hospitality spaces and other commercial interiors.
Dimensions, proportions, timber selection, edge profiles, finishes and design details can all be considered as part of the project, allowing each piece to feel at home in its intended space.
Solid Hardwood Timber, Naturally Unique
Timber is a natural, organic material, and that individuality is one of the reasons we love working with it.
No two boards are exactly alike. Variations in grain, colour, tone and natural character mean every custom furniture piece has its own identity. Rather than trying to disguise those differences, we work with the timber to create furniture that celebrates the qualities of the material.
We work with high-quality FSC-certified hardwood timbers including American Oak, Blackbutt, Tasmanian Oak, Spotted Gum, Messmate, Walnut, White Oak and Tasmanian Blackwood.
During your consultation, we can help you select a timber species that complements your design, interior, intended use and preferred overall look.
Natural Hardwax Oil Finishes
Our solid timber furniture is finished in a natural, non-toxic hardwax oil designed to protect the timber while retaining its natural appearance and tactile quality.
Rather than creating a heavy artificial coating over the surface, the finish allows the grain and character of the timber to remain a defining part of the piece.
Depending on the look you are trying to achieve, finishes are available in matte, semi-matte, satin and gloss options.
Visit our Noosaville showroom to see timber species and finishes in person, compare their colour and grain, explore different edge styles and find the combination that best suits your project.
From Statement Pieces to Complete Fitouts
No project is too small simply because it involves one piece, and a project does not need to stop at one piece either.
We create everything from a singular statement coffee table or custom dining table through to coordinated furniture for an entire home, office or commercial space.
For residential projects, this may include dining tables, beds, bedside tables, tallboys, entertainment units, buffets, consoles, desks and other furniture designed to work together throughout the home.
For commercial projects, we can create boardroom tables, meeting tables, executive desks, high bars, benchtops, display furniture and other custom pieces as part of a wider workplace or commercial fitout.
We can also work alongside homeowners, interior designers, architects, builders and project teams to develop furniture that responds to the overall interior concept.
Extra-Large & Complex Custom Timber Furniture
Some spaces call for something well beyond standard furniture dimensions.
Timber & Tide can design and manufacture extra-large custom timber pieces, from oversized dining and boardroom tables to large wall units, display cases, benchtops and feature furniture.
For large-scale pieces, practical considerations such as room proportions, access, delivery and installation can be considered during the design process so the finished piece works not only visually, but within the realities of the site.
We also create steam-bent and laminated timber elements, including curved timber handrails that can follow and wrap around stairwells.
If you are planning an unusual, oversized or technically challenging timber piece, talk to us about what you have in mind.
Our Custom Furniture Process
1. Complimentary Consultation
Every project begins with a complimentary consultation by email, phone or in person at our Noosaville showroom.
Tell us about your space, what you would like to create, approximate dimensions, preferred timber and any ideas or inspiration you already have.
If you’re not sure where to start, that’s fine too. We can help you work through the possibilities.
2. Design & Concept Development
We work with you to refine the design, proportions, timber selection, finish and details of the piece.
This is where we consider how the furniture will look within the space, how it will be used and any practical requirements that need to be incorporated into the design.
3. Confirm Your Build
Once your design has been approved, a 30% deposit is required to secure your place in our production schedule and allow us to order the timber for your project.
The remaining 70% balance is due upon completion, prior to delivery or installation.
4. Drawings & Approval
Once your project is confirmed and the deposit has been received, we prepare detailed drawings of your custom piece for approval.
This gives you the opportunity to review the dimensions, proportions and key design details before manufacturing begins, ensuring everything is agreed upon before your furniture moves into production.
5. Handcrafted in Noosaville
Once approved, your piece is made by our team using carefully selected solid hardwood timber.
Each project is approached individually, with attention given to timber selection, construction, detailing and finish throughout the making process.
6. Delivery & Installation
Once complete, we can arrange delivery and installation so your furniture is positioned and finished in its intended space.
For larger or more complex pieces, delivery and installation requirements can be discussed earlier in the project to ensure they form part of the overall planning.
Visit Our Noosaville Showroom
Choosing timber and finishes from photographs alone can be difficult, particularly when commissioning a high-end piece of furniture.
Our Noosaville showroom gives you the opportunity to see the timber species we work with in person, experience the quality of our craftsmanship and discuss your project directly with our team.
You can compare the natural grain and colour of different hardwoods, look at different edge profiles, see finish options and select the combination that feels right for your furniture and interior.
For clients planning larger residential or commercial projects, a showroom consultation can also be a useful opportunity to review several furniture pieces, materials and finishes together.
Custom Furniture Lead Times
Every custom furniture project is different.
The time required depends on factors including the size and complexity of the piece, timber selection, design requirements, quantity of furniture and the scope of the overall project.
Rather than applying one standard lead time to every order, we will discuss expected timing with you when you enquire and once we understand the requirements of your project.
If your furniture is required for a renovation, new build, office fitout or another project with a specific completion date, let us know during your initial consultation so timing can be considered from the beginning.
Designed for Residential & Commercial Projects
We create bespoke timber furniture for homes, offices and commercial interiors throughout Noosa, the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane.
Whether you’re commissioning one exceptional piece for your home, an extra-large dining table, furniture for a new residence, a custom boardroom table or a complete commercial fitout, our focus remains the same: thoughtful design, quality solid timber and furniture made specifically for its space.
