CUSTOM TIMBER FURNITURE MAKERS IN NOOSA, SUNSHINE COAST
Timber & Tide is a Noosa-based custom timber furniture maker built on a genuine love of timber, thoughtful design and creating pieces that are made to last. We design and handcraft high-quality solid timber furniture for residential and commercial projects across the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane, from dining tables, beds and entertainment units to buffets, desks, boardroom tables and one-of-a-kind statement pieces.
For us, the beauty of timber is in its individuality. Every board has its own grain, colour and character, and we love working with those natural variations to create furniture that feels unique to the space it was made for. Each piece is carefully considered, crafted with precision and made to be used, enjoyed and lived with for years to come.
OUR CRAFT
Every piece we create is made to order in our Noosaville workshop, with a focus on thoughtful design, quality materials and craftsmanship that lets the natural beauty of timber speak for itself.
We work with high-quality FSC-certified hardwoods including American Oak, Blackbutt, Tasmanian Oak, Spotted Gum, White Oak, Walnut and Tasmanian Blackwood. As a natural, organic material, every piece of timber has its own grain, colour and character, making each piece of furniture genuinely individual.
From timber selection through to sanding and finishing, each stage is approached with care. Our furniture is finished in a natural, non-toxic hardwax oil, available in matte, semi-matte, satin and gloss finishes, protecting the timber while preserving the warmth, texture and character that make solid hardwood so special.
OUR EXPERIENCE
Owner and maker Nelson Ross is a qualified boat builder and tradesman with more than 20 years of experience working with timber.
Born and raised in Noosa, Nelson’s background in boat building has shaped the precision, problem-solving and attention to detail that goes into Timber & Tide furniture today. Working with timber in complex forms has built a deep understanding of how the material behaves, how it should be shaped and joined, and how to create pieces that are both beautiful and made to perform over time.
That experience now extends from individually crafted furniture to large-scale and technically demanding residential and commercial projects, including oversized dining and boardroom tables, wall units, display pieces and curved laminated and steam bent timber elements.

We believe beautiful furniture should be made with respect for the material, the people behind it and the world it becomes part of.
Timber is a natural resource we genuinely value, so we choose FSC-certified timber and use natural, non-toxic finishes and materials wherever possible. We also make a conscious effort to support local businesses, with the majority of our timber sourced through a Sunshine Coast supplier.
In the workshop, we try to make the most of every piece of timber that comes through our hands. Offcuts are repurposed, while timber chips and sawdust are donated for garden use rather than simply being discarded.
For us, responsible making is also about longevity — creating solid timber furniture that is thoughtfully designed, carefully crafted and made to be used, cared for and enjoyed for many years to come.
